To date, he has delivered training and seminars to dog handlers and canine professionals in the UK, Croatia, Bosnia, Latvia, France, Denmark, Indonesia, America, Austria, and Sweden.
While he is frequently engaged by government agencies such as Customs, Police, and Border Guard dog units, his expertise has also been requested by Interpol, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), and the Wildlife Conservation Society.
In recognition of his outstanding work, two of Stu’s detection dogs have been awarded medals by the British Royal Family—an honour reserved only for the very best.

Training

Seminars
Stu’s seminars are highly informative and customized to suit the audience's needs. With years of operational experience, he covers a wide range of topics, adapting content for all skill levels, from basic to advanced. His training and seminars are always backed by his extensive hands-on expertise. Seminars typically last one to three days and can be delivered anywhere in the world.

Consultancy
As a consultant, Stu has worked with the OECD and various law enforcement agencies, including police and customs. He was also pivotal in assisting with the startup of Indonesia’s first wildlife detection dog unit. Stu provides expert guidance in establishing dog units, covering every stage—from sourcing and training dogs and selecting handlers to kennel design and operational deployment.

Customs K9 Refresher Training

This five-day refresher course was provided for the drug detection dog team from Jersey Customs & Immigration Service. With years of operational experience, skills, and knowledge, Stu ensured the training was highly effective and relevant to real-world scenarios. The Customs K9 team attended the Stu Phillips K9 training facility in Wales, where sessions were conducted in buildings, ferry port terminals, and other locations tailored to their specific operational needs.

Latvia Customs K9 Training
The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), an intergovernmental organization, commissioned Stu Phillips K9 to provide training for 40 Customs dog handlers in Latvia.
With years of operational knowledge, skills, and experience as a dog handler—including prior work at international border crossings—Stu partnered with the OECD and former Interpol Director Mike Ellis to deliver refresher training in 2021. The sessions covered a range of topics and took place at multiple locations, including the Customs K9 unit’s training center and a Latvia-Russia border checkpoint.

Stu Phillips has delivered expert training and seminars to law enforcement detection dog teams across the USA, sharing his extensive operational knowledge and skills. One of the teams he worked with was the Human Remains Detection Dog Unit from the Office of Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) for New York City. Stu worked closely with Dr. Michele S. Slone, the First Deputy Chief Medical Examiner and founding director of OCME K9, providing specialized training to enhance their forensic search capabilities.
