Wildlife Crime

Working in airports, container ports, public seaports and other major transit points, our wildlife detection dogs can detect illegal wildlife products hidden in vehicles, luggage, cargo and shipping containers.

Wildlife detection dogs working in these environments can prevent traffickers and smugglers from exporting and moving prohibited wildlife products, giving customs, Police and border control officers the edge in tackling and disrupting the illegal wildlife trade.

• Live Animal Detection.

• Products of Animal Origin (POAO).

B.W.Y Canine has experience at an international level in assisting and advising detection dog units in the fight to tackle and disrupt the illegal wildlife trade. Detection dogs can be used to search public seaports, container ports, airports and even road blocks for high-value illegally poached POAO such as ivory, bush meat, pangolin scales and shark fins.

• Scat Detection.

One of the most effective ways to determine species population size and measure the success of reintroduction projects in a designated area is to perform DNA tests on animal scats. Our detection dogs are given discrimination training on other ‘similar’ scats to ensure they only locate the specific scat required. This unique service can be replicated for any species. 

Bio-Security Dogs
