Specially trained tobacco dogs from Pembrokeshire company B.W.Y Canine Ltd have given trading standards a helping paw in their search for smuggled and fake tobacco products across the county.

An ongoing operation to combat the sale of illegal tobacco across the county has made seizures in North Staffordshire.

Officers from Staffordshire County Council’s Trading Standards service raided four premises, including one in Leek and three in Newcastle under Lyme.

 

A specially-trained tobacco detection dog has helped police and Trading Standards officers uncover a haul of illegal substances across Wearside.

Tobacco detection dogs Cooper and Yoyo accompanied Sunderland City Council's team and Northumbria Police as they carried out visits to retail premises across the city.

A large amount of illegal tobacco has been seized by North Tyneside Council's Trading Standards team from a shop in Wallsend. Specialist search dogs from Wales based B.W.Y Canine were called in to assist with the operation.

Raids on premises in Benwell, Byker and Heaton netted 32,000 illegal cigarettes and over a kilogram of alleged illicit hand rolling tobacco.

Eight thousand pounds-worth of illegal tobacco has been found, concealed in a shop's wall cavity in Swansea.

The amazing discovery was made thanks to Cooper, a new tobacco search dog, trained by Stuart Phillips of Pembrokeshire based B.W.Y Canine Ltd.

On Monday 6 July, Southampton City Council’s Trading Standards Service conducted an illegal tobacco operation at two shops and a secure storage unit in Southampton. They were assisted by officers of Hampshire Constabulary and B.W.Y. Canine Ltd, who provided a tobacco detection dog, named 'Cooper.'

Wednesday 22nd April will see the launch of K9 Live Talk by B.W.Y Canine.

Covid-19 has affected the world in many ways and people across the world are locked down, unable to leave their homes. just one of many areas affected is dog training, so to help with dog training K9 Live Talk has been launched.

Over the coming weeks guest speakers will join Stuart Phillips for live question and answer sessions, aimed at those who work and train dogs. 

Around 27,000 suspected illegal cigarettes and 3kg of hand-rolling tobacco was seized as part of a two-day operation using sniffer dogs from Pembrokeshire based B.W.Y Canine Ltd.

Herefordshire Local Policing Area Commander, Superintendent Sue Thomas has expressed her pride in her local officers and community at the recent Herefordshire Police annual medal and awards ceremony.

Amongst those receiving awards were Pembrokeshire based sniffer dogs Yoyo and Scamp as well as their handler and trainer Stuart Phillips.
