Multi Award-Winning K9 Instructor 

B.W.Y Canine’s Training Services and Seminars are delivered by multi-award-winning trainer and instructor Stuart Phillips. 

Stuart has worked with and been trained by some of the best dog handlers, trainers and instructors in the world.

With over 23 years operational experience and an unrivalled knowledge of the detection dog sector, Stuart is regularly asked to address audiences in countries all over the globe. 

To date, he has delivered training and seminars to dog handlers and other canine professionals in the UK, Croatia, Bosnia, Latvia, France, Denmark, Indonesia and America.

Typically Stuart is asked to work with government agencies and services such as Customs, Police and Border Guard dog units, but in recent years his expertise has been requested by Interpol, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development and the Wildlife Conservation Society.

Stuart is available for training days, one-off seminar and conference events or longer-term canine projects. 

 

Training

Training packages are custom-designed for the specific needs of your department or service, can run for one day or several days and are usually delivered in an environment of your choosing. Stuart can also deliver training at our dog training centre in the UK or anywhere in the world. 

Seminars

Stuart’s Seminars are highly informative and carefully tailored to the requirements of the audience. He is able to lecture on a wide variety of topics and pitch the content at any level, from the basic to the professionally advanced. Seminars delivered by Stuart usually range between one and three days in length and can be delivered anywhere in the world. 

Consultancy

In a consultancy role, Stuart can help you establish a dog unit and support you in every aspect of the project, from procuring and training dogs and selecting handlers, right through to kennel design and operational tasking matters. 

Customs K9 Refresher Training

A five day refresher training package delivered to drug detection dog team from Jersey Customs & Immigration Service. For this particular training package the Customs dog team came to the B.W.Y Canine training facility in Wales. Training took place in buildings, at ferry port terminals and other venues relevant to the particular training requirements of this Customs K9 team. 

Latvia Customs K9 Training 

The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) is an intergovernmental organization who commissioned B.W.Y Canine to deliver training for 40 Customs dog handlers from Latvia. Working in partnership with the OECD and former Interpol Director Mike Ellis, Stuart Phillips visited Latvia in 2021 to deliver refresher training on a number of topics to the Customs K9 unit. 

The training took place at a number of locations in Latvia including the K9 units own training centre and on a Latvia/Russia border check point. 

Interpol Recommendation

Stuart is a committed professional in his field and is a well respected K9 handler with extensive operational expertise. 

He is also an experienced K9 trainer and has delivered training to K9 units across the world, most recently in Eastern Europe and Asia.
